Construction Career Days

For several years, ETM employees from Jacksonville and Orlando have been strong supporters of Construction Career Days.

Construction Career Days (CCD) is a nationwide educational outreach program launched in 1999 by Transportation industry professionals who understood how the increasing population would affect the future employment needs of the construction industry. This has proven particularly true in Florida.

As more people relocate to or vacation in Florida, the booming population calls for additional housing, business expansion and improved roadways. Rapid population growth and expansion increases the demand for qualified construction workers, but the challenge is in meeting that demand. Most high school students are unaware of the broad career opportunities available in the construction field.

CCD aims to expose students to the opportunities in the field by providing interactive, hands-on activities and the opportunity to hear from and speak to a variety of industry professionals who volunteer for the event.

CCD events are held in nearly all 50 states and are organized by transportation industry partners from the public and private sectors. Currently, Florida holds CCD events in the Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando  areas.

Partner agencies and organizations responsible for the event include the Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Transportation Builders Association, the Suncoast Utility Contractors Association, the National Association of Women in Construction and the Federal Highway Administration.
