The interchange, located in southeast Duval County, was constructed to provide Old St. Augustine Road north/south access to I-95. The project was made possible through a Private-Public partnership between Flagler Development Company, FDOT, and the City of Jacksonville.
The project goal was to create a memorable “Gateway” into Jacksonville from south Florida. The structure is a high profile 312′, two span structure on a super elevated curve. Outstanding design features of this project include the addition of architectural elements on the overpass, 42 degree skew Type VI AASHTO girders, extensive landscaping, fountains, accent lighting, and irrigation.
