Located within the City’s historic Lincolnville District, the Riberia Street Improvements project was needed to upgrade the existing road and utilities to meet current City of St. Augustine standards and to mitigate severe flooding conditions.
ETM was responsible for the design, permitting, surveying, and Construction, Engineering and Inspection (CEI) of the reconstruction of approximately one mile of Riberia Street between King Street South and Cerro Street. The previous two-lane rural road was replaced with a 2-lane urban facility that included improvements to the underground utilities and drainage. Due to the extremely urban nature of the corridor, traditional pond treatment of the stormwater was not an option, so we designed and permitted underground treatment structures. To assist the City of St. Augustine in the funding of the underground treatment, our team helped the City obtain a grant to cover the costs of the treatment structures through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
